SWISS “NZZ” NEWSPAPER ABOUT NAGORNO-KARABAKH
An article entitled “Nagorno-Karabakh question needs new impulses” was published in the Switzerland-based “NZZ” newspaper.
The article deals with the first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s resignation and Robert Kocharyan’s coming to power in the country, as well as connection of Azerbaijani territories to Armenia in a war that caused death of 30 thousands people.
The article says despite Ter-Petrosyan’s willingness to compromise in negotiations his opponents Kocharyan and Serj Sarkisyan refuses it flatly.
The author of the article also stresses “differently from his predecessor the newly elected president of Armenia should increase activity in the compromise based negotiations to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict”.
“Protraction of the conflict will not be in favor of Armenia and the country will not be able to constantly keep Azerbaijani territories under occupation. Moreover, oil-rich Azerbaijan, increasing its military budget will make vigorous efforts to liberate its occupied territories” the article says.
The author also notifies the constructive resolution of the conflict will put an end to Armenia’s economic isolation and its dependence on Russia.
