Baku, June 13, AZERTAC
Switzerland's spectacular start to the Baku 2015 European Games continued on Saturday afternoon when Nino Schurter spearheaded a Swiss 1-2-3 in the men's Mountain Bike event.
The pre-race favourite finished in a time of 1:41.04 at the Mountain Bike Velopark, with Lukas Fluckiger and Fabian Giger taking silver and bronze, respectively.
Earlier on Saturday, Switzerland’s Jolanda Neff had claimed the first-ever European Games gold medal by winning the women’s Mountain Bike, with compatriot Kathrin Stirnemann taking silver.
Switzerland's Nicola Spirig then took gold in women's Triathlon at Bilgah Beach, before the Swiss trio dominated the men's Mountain Bike, meaning the country has taken six of the first nine European Games medals available.
