THE EURASIA FOUNDATION AND STATOIL PARTNER ON TAXATION INITIATIVE IN AZERBAIJAN
Project of KRON Company, Ltd., be awarded $27,343 will conduct a comprehensive study of small and medium entrepreneurs' most critical problems related to taxation procedures in the north-western regions of Guba-Gusar, Sheki, Ganja-Shemkir and Khanlar. 14 intensive interactive trainings for approximately 350 small and medium entrepreneurs will be organized along with three roundtables with representatives from local tax departments and municipal offices to discuss procedures for interaction between tax authorities and businesses along with the rights and responsibilities of taxpayers. The grantee will also develop a traveling consultation unit, which will be equipped with an electronic library containing commentaries on tax legislation and procedures in order to provide ongoing consultations to entrepreneurs. 350 copies of the "Practical Guidebook for Businesses on Tax Procedures" will be published and disseminated among the training participants.
The other project of Business Development Center "Caucasus", granted $24,863t will create a working group of tax experts to provide specialized consultations responding to the specific requests of 40 entrepreneurs in Lenkoran, Masalli, Astara, Barda, Ujar and Imishli. The project will also facilitate four roundtable discussions between the taxation working group, local businesses and tax departments, and the Educational Centre of the Ministry of Taxation to promote mutual cooperation between tax authorities and taxpayers. In addition, the project will provide 6 two-day intensive training sessions for 80 businesses and publish 1000 mini-calendars containing information about tax regulations, dates of tax payments and submission of relevant reports and approximately 300 tax awareness program materials for businesses in the target regions.
