The Fourth Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth held within “the Year of Heydar Aliyev” has been officially opened in ancient Azerbaijani land Nakhchivan.

The State Anthem of Azerbaijan was sung, a minute of silence was observed to honor blessed memories of those, who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and freedom of our lands.

Later, a documentary “Heydar Aliyev and diaspora-building” prepared by the Committee and welcoming b-roll video by the participants of the previous camps were demonstrated.

Delivering speech at the opening ceremony, Fuad Najafli, the plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, greeted the diaspora youth in Nakhchivan birthplace of great leader Heydar Aliyev and conveyed his best wishes.

Giving extended information about Heydar Aliyev’s activity related to Nakhchivan, Fuad Najafli emphasized the construction works carried out under the leadership of Ilham Aliyev, worthy follower of Heydar Aliyev’s political course.

Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, Fuad Muradov expressed his gratitude to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for their support in organizing the camp.

It was mentioned that at the V (Victory) Congress of World Azerbaijanis held in Shusha on April 22-23,2022, President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev urged all Azerbaijanis living abroad to be in close contact with their historical motherland, to come to Azerbaijan with their families at least once in a year, not to forget their mother tongue, to learn the history of Azerbaijan, and called the second and third generations of Azerbaijanis to be attached to their culture.

It was also emphasized that the activity of the Azerbaijani schools is supervised by the first vice president Mehriban Aliyeva.

In this sense, the summer camps of Diaspora Youth can be evaluated as the

implementation of the President’s recommendations.

Recalling that the Fourth Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth, dedicated to the 100 anniversary of the birth of great leader, the Committee chairman one more time emphasized Heydar Aliyev’s inestimable role in the Azerbaijani history and Nakhchivan’s role in his life.

It was told that the great leader, was born in Nakhchivan ,received his first education here, and started his career. The great leader's return to power for the second time is also related to Nakhchivan. On September 3, 1990, Heydar Aliyev, was elected the chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan AR, where he signed a number of historical decisions.

Ali Huseynli, the first deputy speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has told that the Azerbaijani diaspora is currently experiencing the strongest period in its history. He also compared the victory of Azerbaijan over invader Armenia with the victory of the Azerbaijani diaspora over the largest Armenian diaspora. He also mentioned that the projects like the Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth has an exceptional role in building ties with Motherland. As a result of such effective activities, the modern Azerbaijani youth raised by Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilahm Aliyev will connect Nakhchivan with the main part of Azerbaijan and the Turkish World.

Aydan Ramazanova, the representative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, informed the camp participants about the activities of the Fund and the projects implemented.

The evented concluded with a concert program.

More than one hundred young people from 53 countries, including Azerbaijanis living abroad and representatives of the friendly nations, attend Fourth Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth, one of the branded projects in the history of Azerbaijani diaspora. Holding the Camp in the ancient city of Nakhchivan, where Heydar Aliyev was born a century ago, increases the importance of the event.

The project implemented within the framework of President Ilham Aliyev's Decree dated September 29, 2022 "On the declaration of 2023 as the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" in the Republic of Azerbaijan" aims to unite young Azerbaijanis living abroad around a single platform.
