THE NATO PA`S ROSE-ROTH SEMINAR TO DEAL WITH CASPIAN SECURITY ISSUES
Ziyafet Asgarov, first deputy speaker of the Milli Majlis, head of the Azerbaijan`s delegation to the NATO PA, said the representatives from 40 countries will discuss security in the Caspian region, prospects of the South Caucasus, energy security, transportation of the Central Asian hydrocarbon reserves.
Asgarov noted it is extremely important event in terms of holding the seminar in Baku, strengthening Azerbaijan`s economy, transporting hydrocarbon reserves to the world markets, and increasing Azerbaijan`s political influence. Transportation of Azerbaijani oil and gas to the Euroatlantic area is very important for the European countries as well.
NATO PA President and Secretary General are to travel to Azerbaijan ahead of the seminar. NATO reps will also meet Azerbaijani officials on the sidelines of the event.
Asgarov said the seminar is also important since NATO PA President will partake in the event. The President does not normally participate in the seminar. He will get familiarized with the military reforms here.
According to Asgarov, NATO praised the first stage of military reforms in Azerbaijan. The country properly fulfills its obligations under the Partnership for Peace program and Individual Partnership Action Plan.
