The Telegraph covers Children's Eyes On Earth International Youth Photography Contest
Baku, September 20 (AZERTAC). British newspaper The Telegraph, renowned for its outstanding news coverage, insight and agenda-setting journalism, has widely covered an International Youth Photography Contest, Festival and Exhibition “Children's Eyes On Earth”, sponsored by the International Dialogue for Environmental Action (IDEA) non-governmental organization in cooperation with internationally-known photographer Reza.
The article writes that thousands of young photographers from across the globe have submitted their images to The Children’s Eyes On Earth International Youth Photography Contest 2012. Now the public has the chance to give their verdict, as the ‘Your Choice’ public vote opens online and will be available until September 25. The contest aims to raise awareness of environmental issues. Children aged 17 and under were encouraged to submit photos illustrating the themes of ‘I love nature’ and ‘I hate pollution’. The public now has the opportunity to vote on a selection of 50 shortlisted images by visiting the website before 25 September. The image with the most votes will win the ‘Your Choice’ Award.
The Children’s Eyes On Earth International Youth Photography Contest, Festival And Exhibition 2012 aims to raise awareness of environmental issues through the eyes of young people and their photographs. This exciting global initiative will give children and teenagers a platform to show how they see the natural world, and the chance to discover some of the challenges currently facing our planet.
By seeing through their eyes, it’s the hope that adults will also be inspired to take action, too. With the theme I Love Nature, I Fear Pollution, the Contest is a unique opportunity for young people to use photography to highlight crucial issues and share their vision with others throughout the international community.
The Festival and Exhibition will be a chance to view the Contest entries and winning photographs. An international event, the Festival and Exhibition will visit major cities around the world and will raise global awareness about environmental issues.
The Children’s Eyes On Earth International Youth Photography Contest, Festival And Exhibition 2012 was initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, founder of the non-governmental organization IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) and Reza, photographer and founder of the non-governmental organization AINA World.
IDEA works with young people to put environmental awareness and action at the heart of family, community and national life and is based on the principles of dialogue, action, leadership and education - all essential ingredients for equipping a generation to create positive and sustainable environmental change. “Around the world, young people are waking up to the challenge of the environment. It is in our hands to create a future where we live in harmony with the nature which supports us and gives us life”, says Leyla.
IDEA is the sponsor of The Children’s Eyes On Earth initiative, which is also supported by WPO (World Photography Organization), National Geographic Kids UK, SDN (Social Documentary Network), Azerbaijan Ministry of Youth and Sports, FotoEvidence, Aina World and Webistan Photo Agency.
