Trilateral discussions on Azerbaijani, Turkish and Russian NGO cooperation held
Baku, March 12 (AZERTAC).Trilateral discussions on cooperation between Azerbaijani, Russian and Turkish civil society institutes were held on 12 March.
Chairman of the International Cooperation Center Azay Guliyev, Director of the Russian Institute of Political Studies Sergei Markov and a Turkish delegation led by Turkish NGO chairman Ismail Safi attended the discussions.
Azerbaijan, Turkey and Russia have friendly relations, which must translate to those between the relations of those country`s NGOs and civil society groups, Guliyev said. A Coordination Council for NGO Cooperation of three countries, which will focus on coordinating the cooperation in the future, must be established, he stressed.
The representatives of the Russian Public Chamber said that the three countries are regional leaders and cooperation in this sector could be successful. A new format of trilateral relations, which could contribute to the stability and development of the region, must be found.
Chairman of Turkish NGO Ismail Safi said that the potential of civil institutions must be used to strengthen relations in civil society.
The sides stressed the importance of building ties on the basis of public benefit and protection of national interests.
They also reached an agreement on preparation of a definite package of proposals for implementation and steering and technical provision of cooperation. In addition, a working group was created to define the directions of further activity and settlement of steering issues. The next trilateral meeting is scheduled in Moscow.
