UN ACTIVELY SUPPORT PROJECTS CARRIED OUT IN AZERBAIJAN
As was informed to AzerTAj from the press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, minister Elmar Mammadyarov has expressed satisfaction with high level of contacts between Azerbaijan and the United Nations, successful results of many projects, which are carried out by the Organization in our country.
Having named Azerbaijan the strategic partner, Kalman Mizsei has stated that the Organization represented by him will render support to projects, which are carried out and will be carried out henceforth in the country. He has noted that the United Nations support connection of Azerbaijan to the program of the "new neighborhood policy” of European Union and is ready to render assistance in adjustment of contacts between the countries and states newly becoming members of the European Union. Having noted notable growth of economic development in Azerbaijan, the visitor has especially emphasized that the next year the Country would hold one of leading places among the states of the world on parameters of economic growth. At the same time, the visitor also has touched the question of the quick admission of Azerbaijan to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Having emphasized further participation of the country in global projects, in particular, in combat against terrorism, Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov has informed the visitor that our country 32 times was exposed to the acts of terrorism accomplished by Armenians. At the same time, the Minister has underlined that Azerbaijan, having, as a result of the conflict of hundred thousand of refugees and IDPs, requires material support for successful participation in global projects, and has especially noted necessity of realization with this purpose of cooperation between the United Nations and Azerbaijan according to principles of transparency.
Head of the foreign policy department Elmar Mammadyarov, having emphasized necessity of development of agribusiness, tourism, information technologies and many other areas, has noted importance of attraction of investments and into these spheres.
Having expressed deep satisfaction with the programs carried out by the Program of Development of the United Nations (UNDP) in Azerbaijan, and cooperation with management of the country, Kalman Mizsei has especially emphasized that the Organization represented by him is a reliable partner of the country.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, having expressed confidence in further development of the future of contacts between Azerbaijan and the United Nations, has brought to the attention of the visitor, that the Country possesses all opportunities for realization of various programs of this Organization. The Minister has expressed hope, that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs acting as the pilot for application of new test system for employment, carried out at support of the United Nations, would achieve successes in the said area, and also on support of the United Nations in the future at use of the given system and in other areas.
At the meeting also discussed were other issues of mutual interest.
