US HIGHLY ASSESSES AZERBAIJAN’S EFFORTS IN FIGHTING TERRORISM
Frank Urbancic, Principal Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism of the U.S. Department of State, now visiting Azerbaijan, today met with the Minister of National Security of Azerbaijan, general-lieutenant Eldar Mahmudov.
Minister Mahmudov informed on the developments in region, the global projects being realized and the existent threats in this geo-strategic space. Noting deep concern imposed by international terrorism and transnational crimes and its other forms, Mr. Mahmudov informed on the adequate measures undertaken by the Ministry in this direction. But the international efforts should be united to combat against this evil, the Minister emphasized. He expressed gratitude to the anti-terror coalition member-states for support rendered to Azerbaijan and stressed necessity of strengthening further cooperation.
Mr. Frank Urbancic thanked for provided information, underlining that the United States highly assess efforts of Azerbaijan in combat against terrorism to ensure international security. At his words, cooperation of Azerbaijan and USA in fighting terrorism yields its fruits and stressed necessity of expansion of the joint efforts in this field.
The sides had comprehensive exchange of views on a number of other questions of mutual interest.
Ambassador of the United States to Azerbaijan Anne Derse took part at the meeting.
