US, Turkey discuss liberation of Azerbaijan`s occupied territories
Ankara, April 8 (AZERTAC). US Secretary of State John Kerry and Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu have discussed the strengthening of the OSCE Minsk Group activity and liberation of Azerbaijan`s occupied territories.
They also discussed regional security issues, situation in the South Caucasus, as well as normalizing Turkey-Armenia relations.
"The Turkish and Armenian relations are of crucial importance, which need a much more comprehensive approach to be initiated. The Minsk process should be provided with an ever-increasing momentum and the invaded territory of Azerbaijan is an issue that we need certain advancement within," Davutoglu stated after the meeting.
Davutoglu and Kerry said they had discussed the two-year-old civil war in Syria, including the shared goal for a peaceful transition there. They said a meeting of a core group of the Friends of Syria would take place soon. Kerry praised Turkey for its “generosity” toward refugees and commitment to keeping its borders open. The Iraq and the Cyprus issues were also on the agenda during their meeting.
The US Secretary of State also met with Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
