VACCINATION CAMPAIGN FOR CHILDREN CONDUCTED IN BAKU
AZERBAIJAN PRESIDENT ATTENDED THE EVENT
President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev and world famous musician Mstislav Rostropovich participated in the event.
Residents of Baku, representatives of the public and healthcare workers gathered near the hospital warmly greeted the Head of State and the Maestro. President Ilham Aliyev and Mstislav Rostropovich were presented flowers.
They viewed a photo-exhibition arranged at the hospital to reflect the concern that national leader Heydar Aliyev used to show about healthcare, his participation in the opening ceremonies of new healthcare objects, and the work done by the creator of the independent Azerbaijan for bringing-up a healthy young generation.
After that, President Ilham Aliyev, Maestro Mstislav Rostropovich and also attended the event Ambassador of the United States to Azerbaijan Reno Harnish entered the room in which 1-year-old Adil Guluzadeh and 6-year-old Ayan Aliyeva were being vaccinated.
The President was informed that the National Vaccination Program launched by Vishnevskaya-Rostropovich Fund in 2003 is aimed at protection of children from such three serious infectious measles, parotiditis and rubella, and that at the same time, it will save newborn infants from congenital rubella. Overall, the Head of State was also told, the Program financed by the US Department of Agriculture implies to provide the QRM vaccine to 750 thousand children of 1-6 year age group.
Later on, in presence of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, Minister of Health of Azerbaijan and President of the Vishnevskaya-Rostropovich Fund Mstislav Rostropovich signed an agreement on donations to enhance the Vaccination Program.
After that, a ceremony was held in front of the hospital.
Speaking at the ceremony were Minister of Health of Azerbaijan Ali Insanov, Ambassador of the United State of America Reno Harnish, President of the Vishnevskaya-Rostropovich Fund, world famous musician Mstislav Rostropovich and President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev.
Mstislav Rostropovich in particular said: I want to be grateful to my Motherland, my city, and thinking of and concern for children who will be growing up here is a form of the gratefulness because I was born here too.
The Maestro expressed gratitude to the United State of America and his American friends for the help. This help unites the whole world in good in my heart, he said.
Mr. Rostropovich finally thanked doctors for their hard work. We are doing the same job - you make people physically healthy, and we treat their souls with music, he said.
