VICE-SPEAKER OF AZERBAIJAN PARLIAMENT MEETS REPRESENTATIVE OF FRENCH DEFENSE MINISTRY
Ziyafat Asgarov, Vice-Speaker of the Azerbaijan Parliament, chairman of the Parliament Standing Commission on Security and Defense issues met Wednesday with Thierry Borja de Mozota, the representative of the French Defense Minister.
Mr. Asgarov said his country is keen on development of ties with France, adding visits by national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to France had played key role to strengthen bilateral relations.
Vice-Speaker also said that documents signed between the two countries in various areas are advantageous for the both nations.
Development of Azerbaijan-France relations is of great importance for the two sides, the Vice-Speaker underscored.
Mr. Asgarov gave to the visitor detailed information about the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh. He stated that the conflict remains unresolved due to Armenia’s non-constructive stance.
Thierry Borja de Mozota said agreements and contracts signed during mutual visits create legal base for expansion of ties.
Representative of France’s Defense Ministry said France is one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan’s state independence.
He stated that official Paris attaches special importance to development of bilateral relations with Azerbaijan, which plays a great role in the South Caucasus.
Azerbaijan is very important country for us from political and economic points of view, Thierry Borja de Mozota stressed.
He said his visit aims to talk on expansion of Azerbaijan-France relations in all fields, including the defense sphere.
