VOTING UNDERWAY IN SHEKI-ZAGATALA DISTRICT
The 15 October 2008 presidential elections are underway in Sheki-Zagatala election district of Azerbaijan with 342,260 voters. Some 9 constituencies with 389 polling stations opened at 08.00 AM in Balakan, Zagatala, Gakh, Sheki, Oguz and Gabala cities of the district.
All polling stations were provided with technical equipment, including ink bottles and ultraviolet lamps as well as web-cameras set up in 40 polling stations of 6 election districts. This will promote conduction of free, democratic and transparent elections. Some 3556 representatives of local political parties and non-government organizations, as well as foreign observers from OSCE ODIHR, CIS PA and other international structures are monitoring the voting.
