WORKING VISIT OF PREMIER OF TURKEY TO FRANCE
Prime Minister of Turkey Rejep Tayyip Erdogan has left with a short-term working visit for France, 19 October.
Goal of the visit is to conduct meetings with the leadership of France on the eve of December meeting of the heads of states and governments of the European Union member-countries, AzerTAj reported. As known, at the meeting, it is planned to adopt a resolution related to negotiations connected to admission of Turkey to membership of EU. President of France Jacques Chirak suggested holding referendum in the country on the said question. Turkey protested this suggestion, stating that hitherto has not been held referendum for admission of any country to the European Union.
In the course of visit, the sides will have exchange of views on the said question. Openly stating its position, Turkey also intends to know opinion of French leadership.
