WORLD BANK MISSION TO ARRIVE IN BAKU

World Bank mission will arrive in Baku this week to familiarize with the course of implementation of the 10-year education reforms program.

The program /2003-2013s/ envisages improvement of work in the education area, development of material and technical basis, renewal of syllabuses for senior pupils, issue of new textbooks, raising teachers’ skills. Cost of the project is 60 mln dollars to be implemented in three stages (2003-2007, 2007-2010, 2010-2013). The first credit in 18 mln dollars was allocated on September of the last year.

It should be reminded that it was the WB second project in the field of educational reforms of Azerbaijan. Agreement on this issue was signed between the government of Azerbaijan and World Bank on July 1999. The project in 5,5 mln dollars was completed on March of the current year.
