ХI CONGRESS OF WRITERS OF AZERBAIJAN HELD
In his opening remarks, Anar, Chairman of the Union of Writers has informed that 414 from the elected 458 delegates were participating at the Congress.
The secretary of the Union Arif Amrahoglu made report “On the activity of the Union of Writers for the period under review”.
The lecturer has estimated care of national leader Heydar Aliyev for the literature, culture, art, and science during those difficult moments as reflection of his wise, far-sighted state position. He has noted, that financing of the Union of Writers, its literary organs from the State budget, granting about 30 representatives of adult generation, 30 young people of the grant of the President, solemn celebrating of our anniversaries of writers and the edition of their products in Latin script application of state language in all structures, etc., activity of the National Encyclopedia, inclusion of the Center of Translations in the state budget - all this is evident acknowledgement of that fact that the outstanding leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev approach to creative sphere from positions of statehood.
Then, secretary of the Union of Writers Chingiz Abdullayev has read letters of congratulations of the unions of writers of the foreign countries, known writers of the world to the Congress.
At the Congress, also were speaking the known Turkish writers Orhan Ramuk, Irfan Ulku, the writers and poets Gabil, Zelimkhan Yagub, Elchin Husenybeyli, Salim Babullaoglu, Chingiz Alioglu, the writer from Russia Lyudmila Lavrova, academician Bekir Nabiyev, the assistant to the prime minister, People’s Write Elchin.
Then, organizational questions have been considered. Voting by show of hands, the chairman of the Union of Writers was elected the People’s Write Anar, the first secretary - Fikret Goja. And the secretaries were elected Chingiz Abdullayev, Arif Amrahoglu, Rashad Majid.
At the Congress, participating was the head of department of President Administration Fatma Abdullazade and other officials.
