The 120th birthday of composer Zulfugar Hajibeyov has been marked at a house-museum of Uzeyir Hajibayov.

Director of the museum Saadat Garabagli told of the life and creativity of Zulfugar Hajibayov and his services in developing musical art.

Employee of the house-museum Sevinj Guliyeva delivered a report on the composer’s creativity. She emphasized that Z. Hajibayov was one of the first composers to present musical folklore. He composed operas and operettas. Theater troupe formed by him and Uzeyir Hajibayov appeared in the various regions of Azerbaijan and abroad.

Reader of the Baku Musical Academy Farah Aliyeva told of Z. Hajibayov’s activity including the soviet period of his creativity.

Painter Huseyn Hajiyev presented picture of composer to the museum while Agdam musical schoolteacher Vagif Mammadov gave a tuning fork.

In conclusion, Azerbaijan State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet performed excerpts from Z. Hajibayov’s opera “Ashug Garib” and others.
