10TH ECO SUMMIT MEETING HELD IN TEHRAN
PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV ATTENDED SUMMIT
Baku, March 12 (AZERTAC). The 10th summit meeting of heads of ECO member countries was held in Tehran. President Ilham Aliyev participated in the meeting on March 11.
Following the 10th summit meeting, President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejat hosted a reception in honor the heads of states and governments.
After the meeting behind the closed doors, ECO awards were presented in eight fields. Award winners were selected among 50 candidates nominated by ECO member countries.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev awarded Tajik academician Talbak Nazarov for his contribution to the economic field.
Azerbaijani scientist Vagif Abbasov was awarded for his contribution to the science and engineering.
Then, the heads of states, prime ministers and other high-level officials signed the ECO 10th summit stamp and posed for photographs together.
President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejat spoke at the event. He praised President Ilham Aliyev`s activity during his ECO presidency. He stressed ECO became more active thanks to Azerbaijani leader`s efforts. Ahmadinejat noted Tehran declaration would help expand ECO`s activity and called on member countries to combine their efforts to achieve this.
