70,000 WATCHING ATHENS OLYMPICS OPENING CEREMONY

About 70,000 are watching the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games 2004 at the central Olympic stadium in Athens.

Greek President Konstadinos Stephanopoulos, International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge (Belgium) and Chairwoman of the Games Organizational Committee Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki are attending the ceremony.

The ceremony will last for about 3.5 hours, and teams of 202 countries will take part in the Olympic parade.
