Azerbaijani, Sudanese FMs discuss current situation in the region

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan Ali Al-Sadiq Ali, who is Baku to attend the Summit-level Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group in response to COVID-19.

During the meeting, the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, including the current situation in the region was discussed.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stressed the importance of political dialogue and reciprocal visits in the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Sudan, as well as cooperation within multilateral platforms. He hailed Sudan's support of Azerbaijan's stand and initiatives within international organizations, especially the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the NAM.

Minister Ali Al-Sadiq Ali expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan for the successful chairmanship of the NAM. He underlined that holding the Summit-level Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group in response to COVID-19 is one of the important initiatives put forward by the Azerbaijan`s NAM chairmanship.

The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
