Azerbaijan, China ink agreement on judicial cooperation
Baku, April 26 (AZERTAC). A new agreement on cooperation has today been signed between justice ministries of Azerbaijan and China.
The signing of the document took place at a meeting of visiting deputy justice minister of China Zhang Sujun with Azerbaijani justice minister Fikrat Mammadov.
Azerbaijan`s justice minister stressed the importance of developing judicial cooperation between the two countries. He noted great prospects exist to expand bilateral cooperation even more.
The Azerbaijani minister also spoke of the judicial reforms carried out in Azerbaijan under President Ilham Aliyev.
Mammadov noted the document would contribute to developing bilateral judicial cooperation and information exchange on legal issues.
Sujun said he saw great development process in Azerbaijan during his first visit to the country. Sujun noted he attaches great importance to his visit to Azerbaijan. He noted both countries support each other in international organizations. The deputy justice minister also praised Azerbaijan`s international prestige, adding the country`s securing a seat on the UN Security Council proves this.
Sujun also pointed out his visit to Azerbaijan would give impetus to development of judicial cooperation between the two countries.
The Chinese deputy minister was also briefed on Armenia`s aggressive policy against Azerbaijan. Sujun said his country supports Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity, adding the conflict must be settled peacefully and on the basis of principles of international law.
Sujun also visited museums of Justice History and Heydar Aliyev, as well as viewed exhibitions on Azerbaijan-China relationship.
Prior to the meeting the Chinese delegation visited the Alley of Honors to put a wreath at the tomb of national leader Heydar Aliyev, and Alley of Martyrs to commemorate Azerbaijani heroes who gave their lives for the country`s independence and territorial integrity.
