AZERBAIJAN DELEGATION ATTENDS MEETING OF FOREIGN MINISTERS FROM ECO MEMBER COUNTRIES
Teheran, March 10 (AZERTAC). A delegation of Azerbaijan led by Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmoud Mammadguliyev participated in the 18th meeting of the Foreign Ministers from the Economic Cooperation Organization member countries, which wrapped up Monday in Tehran.
Speaking at the meeting, Mammadguliyev said ECO made some progress since the Baku summit held in May 2006. Azerbaijan supports reforms in the ECO. These reforms must make ECO a project-oriented organization and take into consideration political, social and humanitarian challenges ECO member countries face.
Deputy Minister noted terrorism and aggressive separatism seriously hit the socio-economy situation in the regional countries and impeded regional cooperation.
Participants of the meeting adopted a declaration concerning the 10th summit of ECO member countries to be held on March 11 in Tehran.
At the request of Azerbaijani delegation, a proviso was added into the document, saying frozen conflicts, which impede regional cooperation must be solved on the basis of territorial integrity of states and international law.
Azerbaijan`s ambassador in Iran Abbasali Hasanov was present at the meeting.
