‘AZERBAIJAN IS A POLITICAL AND CULTURAL CENTER OF SOUTH CAUCASUS’

Baku, 8 April (AZERTAC). “Azerbaijan is a political and cultural center of the South Caucasus and I am very happy to be in this country”, said Lithuanian Foreign Minister Vygaudas Usackas while meeting the Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament Ogtay Asadov.

The Speaker said the Azerbaijani-Lithuanian relationship is at very high level, adding “friendly ties between the heads of the two states opened new opportunities in this regard”.

Asadov also touched upon the bilateral interparliamentary relations, saying they reached “the level of strategic partnership”. The Speaker expressed confidence cooperation between Azerbaijan and Lithuania will further develop “covering new spheres”.

Usackas hailed “overall progress in Azerbaijan”. The Lithuanian FM said his country is keen on boosting cooperation with Azerbaijan, noting there are “wide opportunities to achieve this”.

He also praised Azerbaijan`s supporting EU Eastern Partnership initiative.

“Lithuania is also interested in participating in this program, and we consider it very important for both countries”, the Foreign Minister said.
