“AZERBAIJAN IS A RELIABLE PARTNER”, SWISS STATE SECRETARY FOR ECONOMIC AFFAIRS
Baku, April 17 (AZERTAC). “We consider Azerbaijan a reliable partner and place a particular emphasis on our relations with the country,” said Swiss State Secretary for Economic Affairs Jean-Daniel Gerber during his meeting with Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev here on Friday.
Gerber pointed out the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs had implemented several “successful projects” in Azerbaijan, adding “we will increase efforts to expand the scope of the bilateral relations”.
Mustafayev informed the Swiss Secretary about ongoing economic reforms in Azerbaijan. He stressed “the important role” of the joint intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in expanding the Azerbaijani-Swiss economic relations.
“Reciprocal visits by our presidents is another element giving the impetus to boosting our economic cooperation,” said Mustafayev.
The Azeri Minister noted: “There are nearly 40 Swiss companies operating in Azerbaijan. Recently a groundbreaking ceremony for a state-of-the-art dry-process rotary kiln of the Garadag Cement open joint stock company, one of whose shareholders is Swiss Holcim Group company, has been held here. The total cost of the project is about 400 million US dollars. This will be one of the largest projects in Azerbaijan`s non-oil sector.”
“The fact Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev attended the groundbreaking ceremony proves the government attaches much importance to developing the non-oil sector of the economy,” said Mustafayev.
