Azerbaijan, Italy discuss issues of military cooperation
Baku, July 18 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister, Colonel-General Safar Abiyev has today met with Chief of the Joint Staff of the Italian armed forces, General Biagio Abrate who is visiting Baku.
Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister told that Azerbaijan gives particular importance to cooperation with the European Union and other international organizations from the day it gained independence and gave detailed information to General Biagio Abrate on the military-political situation in the region and problems which impede peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Colonel-General Safar Abiyev also told that Azerbaijani lands are under occupation about 20 years and more than one million of Azerbaijanis were ousted from their homelands. The further strengthening of Azerbaijani Armed Forces and liberation of the occupied lands are our high priorities? Mr. Abiyev underlined.
The sides had comprehensive exchange of views on the military cooperation during the meeting.
