Azerbaijani culture days continue in Cannes
Cannes, 6 July (AZERTAC). As part of the Azerbaijani culture days in Cannes, France, first lady, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva has met mayor of the city, Bernard Brochan. The importance of the Azerbaijani culture days was stressed at the meeting. They said the events to popularize Azerbaijani culture aroused great interest of local residents. They sides also underlined the necessity of developing cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Cannes.
Bernard Brochan handed over a diploma of honorary citizen of the city of Cannes to Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva.
A photo exhibition on the history, cultural values of Azerbaijan and traditions of the people opened in Cannes on Friday.
It was followed by a concert of Azerbaijani jazzmen. Speaking prior to concert, Azerbaijani ambassador to France Elchin Amirbayov briefed the participants about the culture of his country. The ambassador highlighted what the Heydar Aliyev Foundation had been doing to popularize Azerbaijani mugham across the world. The diplomat added jazz had rich traditions in Azerbaijan.
