AZERBAIJANI MP ACCUSES ARMENIANS OF USING KOSOVO CONFLICT FOR OWN INTERESTS
During Tuesday session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva accused Armenians of using Kosovo conflict for their own goals and giving incorrect information to parliamentarians.
Pashayeva`s comments came after Armenian parliamentarians and officials stated that Kosovo will be a model for settlement of conflicts in Nagorno-Karabakh, Abkhazia, Pridnestrovie, and South Ossetia.
She said Armenians` claims will have negative impact on Nagorno-Karabakh peace talks.
The Azerbaijani MP said there are no similarities between Kosovo and other conflicts within the CIS territory, and mentioned this was repeatedly mentioned by such influential organizations as Council of Europe and European Union, as well as UN officials and OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
She also said the Nagorno-Karabakh problem arose as a result of Armenia’s occupying 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory.
Ganira Pashayeva called on her Armenian counterparts not to make statements aggravating the situation, but to contribute to the solution of the conflict.
She demanded the Council of Europe to seriously react to such factors.
Another Azerbaijani MP Gultakin Haciyeva stated Azerbaijanis were subjected to ethnic cleansing in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh and said there are distinctive features between Kosovo and Nagorno-Karabakh conflicts.
