BSEC WORKING GROUP TO FOCUS CULTURAL ISSUES
During Ukraine’s Presidency at Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC), due on January 17-18 current year, the Organization’s Working Group on cultural issues will hold a meeting. Vasif Eyvazzade, adviser of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture will represent Azerbaijan at the event. The Working Group was established on November 1, 2006 in accordance with the resolution, adopted at the meeting of the Organization member states’ Council of Foreign Ministers. The first meetings of Ministers of Culture and the Working Group were held in Greece, on June 2-4 last year. After these events, member states drew up a two-year Plan of Activity in the sphere of culture again to be discussed in the forthcoming meeting in Istanbul. The Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s proposals on the project of “Legends of Two Sea” include declaring BSEC “the capital of culture”, holding an international conference on the dialogue among cultures in Black Sea region and “Culture Weeks” in the Organization, as well as building “culture bridge” between Black and Caspian Seas within the BSEC Plan of Activity in culture sphere. Documents, which will be discussed in the forthcoming meeting in Istanbul, will lay basis for further activity of BSEC in culture sphere.
