CEC CHIEF GIVES PRESS CONFERENCE AS REFERENDUM STARTS

Baku, March 18 (AZERTAC). Chairman of Azerbaijan`s Central Election Commission Mazahir Panahov has held a first press conference today in the Sechkiler information center as a nationwide vote to make supplements and amendments to the Constitution has started across the country.

Panahov said necessary conditions were created in all polling stations to ensure a normal voting process.

According to the CEC chairman, about 4.9 million voters will cast their ballots in 5,402 polling stations.

Panahov said the referendum is observed by more than 47,000 local and 177 international observers, adding they are given free access to monitor the vote.
