“EASTERN PARTNERSHIP” SUMMIT DUE IN APRIL 2009
Baku, January 12 (AZERTAC). The EU`s “Eastern partnership” summit is expected to be held in April current year in Prague at the level of the Presidents or Prime Ministers of the EU member states and partners, the Czechian media reported, referring to the foreign minister of this country Karel Schwarzenberg, chairman of the European Union in the first half of 2009. The European Union has decided to submit the “Eastern partnership” concept prepared at the EU`s Brussels meeting on December 13, 2008, to be discussed by heads of state and governments of the member countries.
The “Eastern partnership” Program initiate by Poland and Sweden, has been welcomed by 27 EU member countries. The initiative came to enlarge cooperation with the six post-soviet countries - Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Armenia, as well as promote realization of concrete projects. The program envisions abolishment of visa regime and creation of free-trade zones.
