FIRST DEPUTY MILLI MAJLIS CHAIRMAN MEETS HEAD OF IMAM KHOMEINI RELIEF COMMITTEE
First deputy chairman of Azerbaijan`s Parliament, head of the standing commission on security and defense affairs Ziyafat Asgarov met Tuesday with Chairman of the Imam Khomeini Relief Committee Hossein Anvari.
Asgarov said his country attaches great importance to development of relations with Iran.
He stressed the role of the two presidents in strengthening their countries` ties.
Asgarov said recent visit by Chairman of Iran`s Majlis Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel to Azerbaijan gave a huge boost to enhancement of bilateral interparliamentary relations.
He highly praised the Imam Khomeini Relief Committee`s work in Azerbaijan, and said he believes the committee will expand its activity in the country.
Ziyafat Asgarov also touched upon Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh and noted the United Nations, the Council of Europe and the Organization of the Islamic Conference adopted relevant resolutions on the dispute.
He expressed his gratitude to the Iranian government for supporting Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity and its stance on the conflict.
Asgarov also expressed his regret over the fact that some members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference are establishing relations and are cooperating with Armenia.
“I think these countries must review their relations with Armenia”, he added.
Chairman of the Imam Khomeini Relief Committee Hossein Anvari said he is satisfied with the results of his visit.
He stressed the Committee has been aiding refugees and internally displaced people in Azerbaijan for 14 years.
“... we will continue our help in future. Azerbaijan`s problem must be solved and its occupied lands must be liberated”, Anvari noted.
