Five-year-old Tilly`s miracle recovery after falling into scalding hot bath

Baku, January 24 (AZERTAC). A five-year-old girl who suffered horrific burns after she fell into a bath of scalding hot water has made a miraculous recovery - after undergoing an incredible 321 operations. Tilly Sawford was just 15 months old when she tumbled into the tub at her parents` home in Strelley, Nottingham. Her brother had accidentally turned on the hot tap and Tilly - who had been playing in the bathroom - fell in head-first, suffering 86 per cent burns to her body. Tilly was rushed to hospital, but her injuries were severe she was given just a five per cent chance of survival. She spent six months in intensive care, where her parents were told five times that she probably wouldn`t live. But the brave youngster refused to be beaten - and nearly four years on she is recovering at home after her latest surgery at the Queen`s Medical Centre in Nottingham.Grinning Tilly said: "I feel better than I used to, I can`t wait to get back to school and play with my friends." Parents Emma and Kyle are thrilled and amazed by her recovery. Emma, 26, said: “I thought several times that I would be planning a funeral. Doctors told me four or five times that they thought she was going to die. "The fact she hasn`t is a miracle - I`m so grateful." The full-time mum admits she`s still haunted by the accident, describing how she heard a scream and rushed to the bathroom to find her daughter lying lifeless in the tub. Emma said: "She must have leaned over and fallen in. Her eyes rolled back and she went unconscious with the pain. "I picked her up straight away and pulled the plug out. Her skin was coming off in my hands. "I think I started to go into shock, I couldn`t speak properly, it was awful." Tilly now uses a walking frame or a pair of crutches to help her get around at school, which she started last September. But Emma insists she`s battling hard to walk on her own, so she can play with school friends and her brothers Toby, eight, Kaden, six, and sister Elise, three. She said: “She can walk a little bit, she struggles to get up the stairs but she normally gets on really well. She`s so independent, she doesn`t like me doing stuff for her unless she really needs it. "Tilly absolutely loves school, she`s got so many friends and she loves going. "I`m just thankful every day because it`s just amazing that she`s alive.
