FREE, TRANSPARENT AND DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION DUE TO START IN AZERBAIJAN
“Preparation for presidential election in Azerbaijan is going on well well, in accordance with requirements of the law. The country is ready for free, transparent and democratic election. It is another evidence of Azerbaijani Government’s intention to conduct free, transparent and democratic election,” Mr. Eugenie Sloboda, Head of the CIS Observer Mission Baku headquarters was quoted by AZERTAG agency as saying at a press conference on October 6.
Mr. Sloboda has emphasized the CIS Mission of Observers has been completely formed and some 400 international observers are due to give their assessment on forthcoming election. 23 long-term observers have not registered any serious flaws after attending 67 polling stations of 28 constituencies. The Mission says the country has every condition for free, transparent and democratic polls.
Mr. Sloboda said short-term CIS Mission of Observers is to arrive in Azerbaijan 2-3 days before the start of voting and the regional offices will open also in Nakhchivan, Lankaran, Ganja and Khachmaz.
On October 15, observers will come to Baku and other cities of Azerbaijan to monitor and evaluate the vote count process. The final report will be released on October 16.
Mr. Sloboda also mentioned that no claim has been raised by any of presidential candidates. All presidential candidates were provided free television and radio time. This fact was positively estimated by the Mission.
