INT’L CONFERENCE DEVOTED TO AZERBAIJAN HELD IN PARIS
Opening the conference conducted at the organizational support of INALKO, the Baku Slavonic University, the Caucasian Program of Turkish Studies and Institute of Anatolian Studies of France, with assistance of the embassies of Azerbaijan in Paris and France in Baku, vice-president of INALKO Claude Aliber has especially emphasized development of close cooperation between Azerbaijan and France recently, both in a number of areas, and in the field of science and education, has recollected his visit to Baku, has told about successes of our country in sphere of higher education, links between BSU and INALKO.
Reporting was the rector of BSU, professor Kamal Abdullayev on the topic “The Azerbaijan language - the basic means of intercourse with east culture”. Paid special attention that the Azerbaijan language is ancient, the lecturer has reminded that in this language such great epic work as "Kitabi-Dede Gorgud" has been written, in this language has created in XIV-XV centuries Nesimi, in XVI century - Fizuli and that due to the important strategic role of the Caucasus, the Azerbaijan language was used as a spoken language among peoples of region.
Speaking on the theme “Azerbaijan literature during independence years (1991-2004)”, chairman of the Union of Writers of Azerbaijan, MP Anar has estimated the conference in Paris, in one of the centers of world culture, on the national holiday of our country - Day of Republic, in 86th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic which was the first democratic state in the East, as a landmark event.
Then, renowned scientists and researchers made numerous reports on the topic. During the conference, the documentary film narrating about the Azerbaijani singer Alim Gaimov, performer of mughams, and fragments from music of outstanding composers Uzeyir Hajibayov and Fikret Amirov, musical works by Vagif Mustafazade were performed.
The ambassador of our country in France E. Huseynova has congratulated participants of conference on the occasion of Day of Republic, has noted, that this action is the certificate of deep respect of the Frenchmen to Azerbaijan people. Having reminded that Azerbaijan has undergone aggressions on the part of the next Armenia, the ambassador has called the European public to not remain away from this problem, to make active efforts for its peaceful settlement.

In connection with May 28 - Day of Republic, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France has arranged reception in the building of the Senate. The vice-president of group of friendship Azerbaijan- France of the Senate senator Uber Duran-Chaftal has congratulated visitors on the significant holiday, has expressed satisfaction with the development of friendship and cooperation between our countries and wished success to our people.
