Manchester City could accept reduced transfer fee for Kyle Walker this summer

AC Milan are looking to progress on their decision to secure Kyle Walker’s services on a permanent arrangement from Manchester City this summer, according to OneFootball.
The veteran England international brought an end to his illustrious stay at the Etihad Stadium during the midway stage of the ongoing season, insisting to club officials that despite the challenges of the campaign he was keen on a new opportunity.
That opened up a number of possibilities for Walker and his family both in European competition and further afield in Saudi Arabia and the United States, with the successful party ultimately being AC Milan on a six-month loan deal.
Walker’s injury-hit temporary spell at the San Siro has not hindered his chances of securing a permanent stay in the Italian capital, with Milan officials now eyeing the opportunity to make the player’s stay at the club concrete from this summer.
However, while there was an option to buy clause agreed between the two clubs back in January, it seems as though there is no guarantee that Manchester City will earn the set amount this summer.
That is according to a new report from MilanLive, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, who reveal that while AC Milan want to close a deal for Walker as soon as possible, they are likely to ask City for a discount on the €5 million option to buy price.
It is claimed that Milan want to pay around €3.5 million for the veteran defender and there is a feeling in Italy that Manchester City officials could agree to sell the England international for that price due to the fact that the player is entirely outside of their future plans.
As for AC Milan manager Sergio Conceicao, the report claims that the Portuguese coach has made the decision to use Kyle Walker as the San Siro club’s starting right-back from next season onwards.
Over on the side of Manchester City, the belief is that the likes of Hugo Viana and Txiki Begiristain will aim to invest in the right-back position this summer, with a number of potential candidates already released into the public domain.
Among the names linked with interest from the Etihad Stadium over the last few days are Flamengo’s Wesley, Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento, and most recently, Juventus’ Nicolo Savona.
That trio are believed to make up part of an extended list that could yet include Andrea Cambiaso – a name that was first linked with big-money Manchester City interest back in January and most attractive perhaps due to his versatility in a number of positions.
