On 7 October, Chairperson of Fund of the Friends to Azerbaijan Culture, the UNESCO Ambassador of Goodwill Mehriban Khanum Aliyeva has received the mission arrived in Baku to take part at the “round table” hosted in connection with the world heritage list including Icherisheher, Palace of Shirvanshahs, Maiden Tower. The mission comprises specialist of the UNESCO Committee for world heritage Ms. Fumiko Okhinata, representative of ICCROM, director of the historical-preservation part of the capital of Lithuania – city of Vilnius, Gediminas Rutkauskas and representative of ICOMOS, chairman of the national ICOMOS organization of Hungary, Gergely Nagy.

In the course of conversation, were held comprehensive exchange of views on the situation established in the historical-architectural preservation Icherisheher, heard lectures and proposals concerning settlement of the problem. The experts of UNESCO made suggestions and proposals related to Icherisheher, which is under danger, underlining that during the “round-table” in Baku they would seek ways out and inform on this Government of Azerbaijan.

At the meeting, also was focused the Gobustan historical-artistic preservation and Atashgah to be included in the list of monuments of World Heritage.

Mehriban Khanum Aliyeva said that it would be taken measures to solve the problems occurred around the monuments of World heritage in Azerbaijan, and she would promote for inclusion of Icherisheher in the List of Monuments of World Heritage, excluding it from the list of monuments under special danger.

Minister of culture of Azerbaijan Polad Bulbuloglu took part at the meeting.
