Mongolian minister: New agreement with Azerbaijan paves way for direct flights between two countries

“This year’s Ministerial Summit of the International Transport Forum (ITF) is being organized under the Presidency of Azerbaijan, and I would like to congratulate Azerbaijan on the successful organization of this ministerial summit at such a high level,” Borkhuu Delgersaikhan, Minister of Roads and Transport of Mongolia, told journalists during the annual ITF Summit in Leipzig, Germany.
“During my participation in this summit, I met with Rashad Nabiyev, Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, as we signed an intergovernmental Agreement on Air Services between the two countries. The signing of this agreement creates the legal environment to develop broad cooperation in aviation sector, including opening of direct flights between the two countries. We also agreed to conclude an agreement on road transport relations between the two countries in the near future. Azerbaijan is an important transit country located along the Middle Corridor connecting Asia and Europe, and Mongolia is planning to connect to this corridor. I believe that this will bring the two countries, which have ancient and traditional brotherly relations, closer together,” the minister added.
