Multi-day international cycling race Tour d`Azerbaidjan kicks off in Baku
Baku, May 1 (AZERTAC). The multi-day international cycling race Tour d`Azerbaidjan dedicated to the 90th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev has today started in Baku.
The tournament began near the Heydar Aliyev Center. Having passed 11 laps (157 km) through the avenue named after the national leader of Azerbaijani people, the participants will finish near the Center building.
On May 2nd starting from the brand new cycle park on the shore of the Caspian Sea the peloton will move towards the Great Caucasus ridge and finish near Ismayili.
On May 3rd the participants will head for Sheki from Gabala and passing Uguz. Afterwards they will go back to Gabala (165 km).
On May 4th the stage will start at Gabala, wherefrom the peloton will move towards Shamaha and finish near the famous Pergulin Observatory in 116 km.
The final stage will pass through the central avenues and streets of Azerbaijan capital - Baku city, making 12 laps of 144 km length.
The Tour d`Azerbaidjan will see 25 teams from 23 countries from around the world competing over five stages. Azerbaijan will be represented by the Synergy Baku Cycling Project team, which made successful debut on the international circuit earlier this year.
