Platform supporting Azerbaijani women launched in U.S.

The First Forum of Azerbaijani Women of America (AWA) titled “Elevating Women, Advancing Leadership” was held in the United States.
The event, organized at the initiative of AWA, operating in the state of Virginia, with the support of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, brought together members of the Azerbaijani community to foster collaboration and promote the role of Azerbaijani women abroad.
The forum featured discussions on empowering women’s leadership, cultural identity, intercommunity dialogue, and strengthening diaspora networks, along with an exchange of experiences and innovative ideas.
In her remarks, AWA head Lala Ragimova highlighted the aim of the forum – to create a strong support platform for Azerbaijani women living in the U.S., as well as for representatives of other communities. She emphasized that the initiative seeks to enhance women’s leadership skills, expand mentoring opportunities, and foster deeper connections among different communities.
Selhet Abbasova, head of a department at the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, spoke about the rich and proud history of Azerbaijani women’s development. She noted that Azerbaijani women are also among the successful examples of women’s leadership worldwide and highlighted their effective activities in public administration and humanitarian diplomacy.
The forum also featured panel discussions focusing on leadership, cultural identity, intercommunity dialogue, women’s professional development, and networking.
The event concluded with the announcement of the launch of a mentorship program for women.
