PRESIDENT GREETS NATION ON NOWRUZ HOLIDAY
On March 19, President Ilham Aliyev has sent a message of greetings to the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the Nowruz holiday.
The message reads:
Dear fellow countrymen!
I extend to all of you my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of our people’s dearest holiday Nowruz and best wishes for your good health and happiness.
Over the centuries, every coming of Nowruz - the nature`s gift for people - has been taken as an embodiment of abundance and benevolence.
This holiday, which comes in the first day of spring heralding the equality of day and night, has always called people for unity, peace and stability.
Spring ceremonies, customs and traditions, which have passed the test of time, constitute a priceless heritage handed down to us from our ancestors.
As an official holiday of the sovereign state of Azerbaijan, Nowruz, which is a vivid embodiment of our national mentality and cultural and moral values, is marked with mass festivities in every corner of our republic.
Renewing spirits of the holiday of spring encouraging people to create, is in harmony with gratifying progress our dynamically developing country has achieved over the past few years in a variety of fields, and with the large scale improvements in both the capital of the country and its regions.
This year`s Nowruz is also a holiday of the Azerbaijani mugham, which is now experiencing a new life, and is remarkable for coinciding with the International Mugham Festival.
This wonderful day is also a day of commemorating those sons and daughters of Azerbaijan who sacrificed their lives for independence and territorial integrity of our Homeland.
This holiday of spring is being joyfully celebrated by our compatriots far beyond our country`s borders.
I believe this traditional holiday, which has turned into a symbol of our national solidarity, will even stronger unite them around the idea of Azerbaijanism and consolidate their affection for the sacred Homeland.
