PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV CHAIRS CABINET`S MEETING
Baku, 22 April (AZERTAC). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev today chaired the meeting of the Cabinet on the outcomes of socio-economic development for the first quarter of 2009.
In his opening remarks, President of Azerbaijan said there were concrete programs, as well as implementation mechanism and financial resources for realization of the issues discussed.
The President noted importance of the family-children problems, underlining that development of national values should be in the focus of attention even more.
President made certain instructions in connection with delay in the construction of roads, water pipelines, and energy and melioration facilities.
Speaking about the work done in the agricultural field, the President said the country-produced goods played important role in ensuring food safety.
In 2009, the loan given to entrepreneurs was increased and reached AZN 130 million, President Aliyev stressed. Touching upon the ecological questions, the Head of State said 3 million trees will be planted in Baku and Absheron Peninsula.
The President noted that he was informed about the tree cuttings during the construction of facilities in Baku and added that he had given serious instructions to heads of relevant bodies to prevent such cases.
Touching upon the energy security in the country, President of Azerbaijan stated that the interest in country`s energy resources increased considerably. According to him, oil and gas policy serves the national interests and welfare of the people.
The Head of State said that despite economic crisis paralyzed the economies of several neighboring countries, it was not felt in Azerbaijan at all: “The crisis showed once more that Azerbaijan lives with its own power and internal resources,” President Aliyev emphasized.

In the meeting, also were speaking the Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev, Minister of Health Ogtay Shiraliyev, Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev, Chairperson of State Committee on family, women and children problems Hijran Huseynova.
