Presidential Library hosts event marking 103rd anniversary of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva

On April 28, an event marking the 103rd birth anniversary of Honored Scientist, prominent ophthalmologist-scientist, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva was held at the Presidential Library.
The event, held in the conference hall, was attended by renowned figures in science and culture, state officials, and the academician's family members.
In her opening remarks, Director of the Presidential Library, Professor Afet Abbasova highlighted the exceptional contributions of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva to the development of Azerbaijani medical science. In her speech, the director characterized Zarifa Aliyeva as a personality who brought light to the dark worlds of thousands of people. She also noted that Zarifa Aliyeva has left an indelible mark on Azerbaijani people's memory, not only as a great scientist but also as an exemplary mother and a devoted life partner.
Subsequently, a video showcasing the extensive life journey and scientific career of Zarifa Aliyeva was presented. The video highlighted various stages of the academician's life and her contributions to the science of ophthalmology.
The Presidential Library has also prepared an electronic project, a virtual exhibition, and a traditional book exhibition dedicated to the academician, which are significant for promoting the outstanding scientist's rich scientific heritage.
At the event, family member of Zarifa Aliyeva, Lala Jafarova, writer-publicist Sharaf Jalilli, Doctor of Philosophy in History and Head of the History of Western Azerbaijan Department at the A. A. Bakikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology of ANAS, Jabi Bahramov, Doctor of Philosophy in History and Leading Researcher of the History of Azerbaijani Culture Department at the A. A. Bakikhanov Institute of History of ANAS, Nigar Akhundova, Director of the Archive of Socio-Political Documents of the Administrative Department of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elmira Alakbarova, and Honored Journalists Tahir Talibli and Ittifag Mirzabeyli delivered speeches, sharing their views on the academician's scientific legacy and public activities. The event highlighted the academician's rich activities and noble personality as an unforgettable example.
Professor Afet Abbasova delivered the closing remarks and expressed her gratitude to the event participants.
