SECOND FESTIVAL OF ETHNIC MINORITIES MANIFESTATION OF TOLERANCE, JANNET SALIMOVA
On October 9, the Azerbaijani State Musical Comedy Theater is to host a gala-concert in the framework of the 2nd Art Festival of Ethnic Minorities. Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the festival will be held under the slogan ‘Our Homeland Azerbaijan’.
The last full-dress rehearsal will be conducted on 8 October onstage. Head of the Baku Chamber Theater Jannet Salimova directs the musical fest.
‘We are going to display original traditions and folk arts of ethnic minorities and groups living in Azerbaijan’s provinces, to preserve and develop their cultural heritage and promote friendship between peoples. The main idea of this event is to show that every individual residing in Azerbaijan, regardless of their ethnic belonging, is a full-right citizen of the country, who has the opportunity to follow their national customs and traditions, and develop their own language and culture. Of course, all this will enrich our common culture’, - Jannet Salimova said.
According to her, artistic groups from various provinces of Azerbaijan representing such as Molokans, Tats, Georgians, Russians, Udins and other ethnic minorities have already arrived in Baku to present to the festival their national songs, dances, customs and traditions. ‘This is another manifestation of tolerance towards ethnic minorities in Azerbaijan.
