U.S. SECRETARY OF STATE VISITS TURKEY

Baku, March 7 (AZERTAC). US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited Turkey on Saturday. During the visit, she met with President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ali Babacan to discuss bilateral relationship, international and regional issues.

During a press-conference, held following the meetings, Babacan said they discussed a number of issues including the situation in the South Caucasus region as well as energy-related matters.

According to Babacan, Turkey and the United States will issue a statement reflecting “such questions as democracy and market economy.”

Clinton said President Barack Obama will cooperate with heads of Turkish state and government in democracy and market economy. She also thanked official Ankara for its efforts in Afghanistan and Iran.

Clinton also noted Barack Obama will visit Turkey in the near future.

She also praised Turkey`s efforts towards establishing peace between Syria and Israel.
