"Palmali" barge built for "LUKoil" commissioned
Baku, April 13 (AZERTAC). One of the largest shipping companies in the world, “Palmali” expands the scope of its activities.
In 2011, the Company participated in the tender held by the Lukoil Company for the design and construction of transport-and-installation barge (TMB) with a cargo crane for surface facilities of offshore hydrocarbons. According to the results of the tender, the winner was the company “Palmali”, which presented the best design and construction time.
On December 22, 2011 it was signed a long-term charter contract between TMB and LUKoil and the “Palmali” Company started the construction of the vessel.
Construction of 4 sections of barge was performed at the shipyard “Besiktas” in Turkey. The sections, installation of basic equipment and start-up operations, the program of acceptance tests were performed at the shipyard “Khazar” in Azerbaijan.
In short time, TMB has been built and will be handed over to the customer for work on transportation of large buildings, accommodation and transportation of processing equipment for the construction of drilling facilities.
TMB will be operated by a licensed marine area in the north of the Caspian Sea. Given the unique technology of the project and the limitless possibilities of TMB (maximum mass of the structure, which can transport the barge reaches 14,000 tons, and placed on board an offshore crane can lift a weight of 400 tons) barge and will continue to be the main tool in the construction of offshore facilities in the Caspian Sea.
