Alex Miller: Israel sees Azerbaijan as strategic partner in South Caucasus
Baku, November 3 (AZERTAC). Israel`s government is interested in development of cooperation with Azerbaijan as its strategic partner in the South Caucasus, said Alex Miller, Knesset (Israeli parliament) member and President of Azerbaijan -Israel International Association.
Alex Miller noted there were good opportunities for development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
He said simplification of the visa regime between the two countries, as well as establishment of direct contacts between businessmen could make an important contribution to the development of bilateral relations.
“There are opportunities of simplification visa regime for some groups of Azerbaijani citizens for example for students, teachers and civil servicemen and in future for all Azerbaijani citizens”, Miller added.
Noting that there are not any problems for developing mutual relations between the two countries Knesset MP said: “There are more than 50,000 Jews from Azerbaijan in Israel, who are willing to contribute to this matter. The Azerbaijani community plays an important role in the rapprochement of the two countries.
Touching upon the discussions on so-called Armenian genocide in Knesset Miller said that such important issues should be settled by historians, scientists and academicians.
