AZERBAIJAN-ISRAEL INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOUNDED
Azerbaijan-Israel International Association was founded in Tel-Aviv, State Committee on work with Azerbaijan living abroad said. The Constituent Congress of the Association held April 12 in Tel-Aviv brought together 408 delegates from 30 Azerbaijan communities, uniting 30 thousand Azeri Jews living in 26 countries of Israel. The officials of the Israel, Ambassador of Turkey to this country Mehmet Tan, heads of the Jewish communities of US, Switzerland, Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Uzbekistan and other countries attended the congress.
Addressing the participants, Nazim Ibrahimov, Chairman of the State Committee on work with Azerbaijan living abroad called the establishment of Azerbaijan-Israel International Association as an important event in the life of Azerbaijan Diaspora, which to make a great contribution to development of the relations between the two countries and nations.
Deputy Prime Minister of Israel Avigdor Liberman hoped that Association will play a considerable role in development of Azerbaijan-Israel ties. He highly appreciated Azerbaijan’s tolerance regarding the Jews, as a result of the wisdom of Azerbaijan nation and far-sighted policy of the country’s leadership.
The participants discussed the organizational issues, approved the Program and Charter of the Association.
Israeli PM, Josef Shagal was elected the Chairman of Azerbaijan-Israel International Association.
At the end, the participants adopted the Congress’s resolution and appeal to the President of Azerbaijan and Israeli Premier.
