Azerbaijani cyclist adds yellow race leaders` jersey to his Taiwan wardrobe
Baku, March 18 (AZERTAC). Kirill Pozdnyakov of the Synergy Baku Cycling team has earned the yellow leaders jersey in the first stage of the 2013 Tour de Taiwan in Dapeng Bay.
Pozdnyakov will look to defend his yellow jersey, as well as continue to extend his lead in the points competition during Tuesday`s 137 km stage that starts and finishes in Tainan City.
Another Azerbaijani cyclist Christoph Schweizer finished 3rd.
The Tour de Taiwan 2013 is being organized by the Chinese Taipei Cycling Association (CTCA) under the regulations of the International Cycling Union from 18th March to 24th, 2013.
Synergy Baku Cycling Project Riders included: Dave Clark - The 33-year-old British rider can climb and ride for GC and was a team mate of Rogers last season. He has three UCI wins to his name and one UCI 2.2 GC win; John Kronborg Ebsen - From Denmark and aged 24 years he is a pure climber who the team believe can do very well. He has already one UCI stage win in his palmares and two top six overall placings in UCI 2.2 races; Christoph Schweizer - the 26-year-old German sprinter has one UCI track win to his name;
Anuar Manan - the Malaysian sprinter is a potentially potent winner of races. The 26-year-old has 18 UCI career wins, with three victories and 17 top six placings in 2.HC Tour stages. McCann is hopeful Manan can come good early in the year and get the team off to a good start; Kirill Pozdnyakov - the 23-year-old Russian is described as a very strong all rounder and won the junior Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in Belgium. Manager of the team is David McCann.
