Azerbaijani FM visits Colombia

Baku, July 26 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov visited Colombia as part of his tour of Latin American countries.

Mammadyarov met his Colombian counterpart Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar to discuss prospect for developing the relations between the two countries.

Maria Cuellar said there was a wide potential between for developing the bilateral cooperation in trade, agriculture and energy spheres.

Mammadyarov said Azerbaijan was interested in strengthening its relationship with Latin American countries, including Colombia.

Mammadyarov asked the Colombian FM to invite the President of Colombia on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev to visit Azerbaijan. He handed over the invitation letter to Maria Cuellar.

He also underlined the importance of strengthening the legal framework for the bilateral cooperation, including the exemption of double taxation and reciprocal encouragement and protection of investments.

The two FMs also discussed ways of settling the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, as well as cooperation opportunities within the UN Security Council.
