Azerbaijani ICT minister meets UN resident coordinator
Baku, September 26 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov has met UN`s outgoing resident coordinator in Azerbaijan Fikret Akcura.
The UN official praised the fact that Azerbaijan topped CIS countries in the annual report of “Global Information Technologies” of World Economic Forum.
Akcura said the UN would continue supporting development of ICT sector in Azerbaijan, particularly through joint projects.
“The 7th Internet Management Forum, to be held in November in Baku, would contribute to increasing achievements, and be a brilliant opportunity for representation of foreign countries, business bodies, international organizations and NGOs to witness Azerbaijan`s successes.”
Touching upon to the future development strategy, Akcura stressed the possibility of implementing joint projects in building of e-government.
Abbasov hailed joint projects between Azerbaijan and the UN, saying they contribute to carrying out necessary reforms, enrich infrastructure, and boost human resources in the country.
“Azerbaijan is ready to participate in joint projects as an investor,” Abbasov added.
